Travel has always been a priority in my life. There is always a vacation you can put together within any budget – it just takes a lot of work. Researching the destination is exciting for me. Sometimes my initial thoughts on where to go, where to stay and things to do has been spot on. Yet, I have found the most exciting trips can be the ones you never thought of.

My “travel bug” began when I was young. Our family always went away for summer vacations. I was fortunate to have a special aunt who also loved travel and took me to some of the most beautiful places in the United States. I recall my first airplane “ride” was an inaugural TWA flight out of O’Hare airport. We circled the airport for about 30 minutes and then landed. I knew then that I wanted to go places.

Out of high school I had the honor of being hired at United Airlines. This was before mileage programs which meant I was able to enjoy the many benefits of working for an airline. I visited many major cities and fell in love with Hawaii. Landing in Hawaii the first time it is hard to believe you are still in the United States.

My airline job took a back seat, but not my vacations. Living on the Mid-Atlantic Coast for a number of years provided a new perspective. Some of the best beaches are found on the coasts of Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. Within a few hours you can be in the mountains. There was rich history to be found in Williamsburg and Washington DC became a favorite destination for me.

As a single parent keeping a tight budget became extremely important. I learned in order to still have destination vacations I would need to spend time preparing and researching trips. Ski trips to the Rockies took a lot of research time, but were so worth the memories. You learn another side of Las Vegas when you travel with teenagers.

Now as empty nesters my husband and I can’t wait to see where we are off to next. Europe is now my passion. We visit whenever we can. I have extensive experience exploring Germany. All of the major cities have so much to offer and it is a step back in time visiting the smaller country towns. The Süd Tyrol of Austria is breathtaking. The Lakes Region of Northern Italy is very special. We have also spent time in France and Switzerland. Most recently, we explored Belgium and Amsterdam. There is still so much more to do.

After all our energy is exhausted on a European trip we find the best way for us to escape the stress of daily life is an all-inclusive beach resort vacation. There is a resort to fit most budgets and is worth every penny.

Golf of Mexico

My passion for travel is knowing we can’t always take that big trip. Weekend jaunts keep me excited. You would be surprised at the new things you learn with trips in your local region. We have had fun exploring Southwest Michigan, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, St. Louis and so many other places in the Midwest.

So what can I help you plan?

  • The Christmas Markets of Europe
  • A European River cruise
  • Swimming with dolphins and exploring Mayan ruins in Mexico
  • The best place to kick back and do nothing
  • The wine/beer trails of Michigan

It’s all out there waiting for you. Let me be your Vacation Genie. Your vacation is my command.
